In 2015, Tulsa welcomed leading education reformer Deborah Gist (formerly the Rhode Island education commissioner) as superintendent, resulting in national spotlight and increased high school graduation rates. About Our Work in Tulsa
Known as T-town and considered the “Oil Capital of the World”乐游网app下载最新版本 for much of the 20th century, Tulsa is located on the Arkansas River at the base of the Ozark Mountains. There is exciting momentum happening in Tulsa Public Schools. In 2016, under the guidance of newer Superintendent Gist, TPS launched a 5-year plan for improvement. The plan focuses on aligning the preK-12 instructional program, improving school culture and attendance, attracting and retaining high-quality educators, and fostering innovative classroom, school and district design. Since Gist’s arrival, the that TPS has increased its high school graduation rate by 5 percentage points to 72.5 percent and has seen a 26 percent decrease in out-of-school suspensions.
