Robert Bell Wilkins, 2019 EP Summer Fellow at Alpha Public Schools
I hope this message finds you well, and I’d like to offer my deep gratitude for the support that helps connect passionate education advocates with relevant opportunities. After graduating from Stanford, I found myself working in financial services. While I enjoyed the work (and other perks of the private sector), I realized that I deeply missed working in the pursuit of education equity, and left banking to join Teach for America.
I was familiar with Education Pioneers and decided to “shoot for the moon” and apply for the Summer Fellowship. I was shocked (and delighted) to be invited to join the Bay Area cohort and was excited to use a different skill set to have a positive impact outside of the classroom.
My placement was at Alpha Public Schools, an innovative charter network in San Jose, and I conducted research on strategies to improve their teacher retention. I loved my experience and also was thrilled with the programming that Education Pioneers made possible for us throughout the summer. I learned a tremendous amount from the experienced professionals with whom I spent several days collaborating.
My experience inspired me to apply to a graduate program in and I am excited for what the future holds. I know that, whatever opportunities arise, my EP experience will help me make the most of it.
I am so grateful to be a part of this network, and I am even more excited to see what Education Pioneers is able to do next because of the support you provide.

Julienne Ng, Ph.D., 2018-19 EP Impact Fellow at Seeding Success
I am writing to sincerely thank you for the support you provide to Education Pioneers (EP). I was a biologist at the University of Colorado who taught and mentored college undergraduates, but I often found myself frustrated about the opportunity gap that lay beyond my reach where students were not even making it to college. As I was exploring different paths I could take to enhance diversity and equity in education, I was excited to learn about Education Pioneers. Not only did EP seem like an opportunity to utilize my research and data analytics skills to drive impact in the K-12 sector, but I was also excited about EP’s support during my career switch to gain a better understanding about public education, its policies and complexities.
I moved to Memphis, TN to be an EP Impact fellow at Seeding Success, a non-profit that serves children across the cradle to career continuum. I worked closely with three Shelby County schools to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to improve chronic absenteeism rates. At all three schools, mentoring programs successfully increased attendance rates for students that were “at-risk” for chronic absenteeism. The 10 months I spent as an EP Fellow solidified my desire to work in the K-12 sector and I have since been hired to serve in a more managerial role at Seeding Success.
Thank you for your continued support of Education Pioneers. EP really provided me a foot in the door to a whole new career path, while providing support along the way. I not only expanded my knowledge about topics and issues related to K-12 education, but I also gained a network of peers who share a similar passion about education.

Nick Brenner, 2019 EP Summer Fellow at Great Lakes Academy Charter School
thank you so much for the support you have given to education pioneers (ep). prior to my ep fellowship, i worked as a strategy consultant in chicago. many of my projects focused on advising economic and workforce development nonprofit organizations. while working to reduce poverty and inequality was both meaningful and engaging, i realized that inequity in our education system was a major root cause of the problems i was trying to address. after deciding to return to school, i was thrilled to learn about education pioneers. not only would ep provide an incredible experiential opportunity to learn firsthand about public education, it would also allow me to use my data & analytics skills to help improve the life trajectories of students attending under-resourced schools.
乐游网app下载最新版本i left my job, and in june i began working with great lakes academy charter school (gla) on the south side of chicago. i worked closely with the school's executive director, principal, and teachers to build a school-wide data infrastructure and dashboards that integrated data from various source systems, enabling automated reporting, and providing a central repository for key data and dashboards. gla leadership and instructors are now able to visualize a variety of student academic, behavioral, and demographic information, equipping them for more data-driven decision-making and instruction. the summer i spent as an ep fellow solidified my desire to drive impact in the education sector, and i'm excited to continue my learning in graduate school.
乐游网app下载最新版本thank you again, for your generous support of education pioneers. ep offered me an introduction into the education sector, and my experience working at gla and learning through ep's summer programming was incredibly formative. in particular, convening with other ep fellows from denver and chicago throughout my fellowship gave me unique insight into a wide variety of challenges and topics within k-12 education, as well as a network of like-minded peers who will continue supporting each other's into the future.
